House Majority PAC, a Democratic super PAC dedicated to elected House Democrats, started Wednesday airing an ad to defend Rep. Joe Garcia, D-Florida, on the recent health care law.
The spot proclaims Garcia is ”working to fix Obamacare” and he ”took the White House to task for the disastrous health care website.”
Garcia will seek re-election in the competitive 26th District in Miami. This race is rated Tilts Democratic by the Rothenberg Political Report/Roll Call.
HMP appears to be answering buys from Americans for Prosperity, a conservative group that targeted Garcia last week in a multi-race ad campaign. Notably, the early ad wars in this race also offer some insight into how both sides plan will handle the flawed rollout of that law.
The conservative ad seeks to tie Garcia to the most controversial aspects of the law, including Obama’s “If you like you’re health care plan, you’ll be able to keep your health care plan” promise. AFP leads the ad noting that Politifact deemed that repeated statement its “Lie of the Year” in 2013.
