Washington, D.C. – House Majority PAC congratulates Ann Kirkpatrick on her victory in Arizona's 2nd Congressional District.
“Ann Kirkpatrick has spent her career fighting for Arizona families,” said House Majority PAC Executive Director Charlie Kelly. “Arizonans have returned Kirkpatrick to Congress because she has a proven track record of getting real results for the middle class and will use her experience to hit the ground running on day one. House Majority PAC is proud to have helped ensure Ann Kirkpatrick will represent AZ-02 in Congress where she’ll put families first and protect critical programs that Arizonans rely on.”
AZ-02 has historically been a competitive district. When Republican incumbent Martha McSally announced that she wouldn’t run for re-election, prospects for a Democratic pick-up got even better. Former Congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick was a terrific candidate who was well-known and well-liked in Arizona while her opponent, Lea Marquez Peterson, the hand-picked candidate of Washington Republicans, was fairly unknown and supported the failed GOP agenda in lock-step.
In the final weeks, HMP launched a TV ad that exposed Lea Marquez Peterson for her support of the GOP tax plan, which gives tax breaks to the ultra-rich, at the expense of the middle class. HMP and Priorities USA Action also ran a joint digital campaign focused on Marquez Peterson’s support for this toxic tax plan.
