WASHINGTON, DC – Today, House Majority PAC announced a new billboard in MI-01 holding Congressman Jack Bergman accountable for his vote for the disastrous American Health Care Act (AHCA) – specifically the bill’s unfair age tax. The billboard goes up on W South Airport Road, Traverse City, MI today, August 7, and will run for four weeks.
This is part of its Congressional Accountability Campaign that will have billboards and mobile billboards in districts across the country. The first billboard, went up last week, targeting Congressman Fred Upton (MI-06) in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
The age tax would allow insurance companies to charge people 50 and over premiums up to five times more than younger people. The billboards will direct voters to a new website www.agetaxfacts.com where they can learn how they could be impacted by the age tax that their Republican Member voted for.
“Congressman Bergman took an unforgivable healthcare vote,” said Jeb Fain, Senior Communications Advisor for House Majority PAC. “HMP is making sure voters in MI-01 don’t forget that Congressman Bergman voted in favor of cutting taxes for the wealthy and special interests on the backs of older Michiganders. The disastrous AHCA would impose a devastating “Age Tax,” which would only hurt older Americans who could see their premiums skyrocket.”
