Poliquin Prioritizes Fellow-Wall Street Millionaires Over Maine Families

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Bruce Poliquin voted once again to throw everyday Mainers under the bus just to benefit Wall Street millionaires like himself. Poliquin joined his party leaders in voting for H.R. 10, a bill that the Portland Press Herald called “589 pages of  largesse for the financial services industry, giving it license to carry out the kind of reckless speculation that tanked the economy just nine years ago.” The bill would virtually eliminate the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau which defends citizens against abusive, predatory, and deceptive practices by big corporations.

“It’s no surprise that Congressman Poliquin has once again chosen to benefit Wall Street millionaires like himself at the expense of Maine’s hard-working families,” said Jeb Fain, Senior Communications Advisor for House Majority PAC. “Last month it was voting to strip healthcare coverage for more than 60,000 people in his district in order to give tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy. Today, it’s gutting protections for Maine consumers so his fellow Wall Street millionaires can get bigger bonuses. Poliquin’s priorities are just plain wrong for Maine, and HMP will be helping the people of his district hold him accountable.”
