House Majority PAC Congratulates Patrick Murphy In FL-18

November 7, 2012

Washington, D.C. – House Majority PAC today offered congratulations to Patrick Murphy on what appears to be a victory over Allen West in FL-18. House Majority PAC spent $2,400,000 in FL-18 airing multiple TV ads and creating a substantial mail program. House Majority PAC spent more in this race than any other nationwide – and was the top-spending Democratic group in FL-18.

“Congratulations to Patrick Murphy on what seems clear is a hard-fought victory,” said Alixandria Lapp, Executive Director of House Majority PAC. “After Allen West’s grandstanding and divisiveness, South Florida will benefit from Patrick Murphy’s commitment to fight for the middle class, to protect and strengthen Medicare and Social Security and to create jobs.”

Murphy appears to have won despite a clear Republican spending advantage in this district. In fact, in just the last two weeks of the campaign, Republicans outspent Democrats on TV by $1.1 million.

Allen West – “Four Dollars”

HOUSE MAJORITY PAC LAUNCHES CLOSING ARGUMENT AGAINST ALLEN WEST

Buy In FL-18 Now Increased By $400,000 To $1.9 Million

Washington, D.C. – Just over a week out from Election Day, House Majority PAC unveiled its closing argument against Allen West in the form of two new TV ads that will run simultaneously until November 6. House Majority PAC also announced that its buy in this district has increased by $400,000 to a total of $1.9 million.

The first spot, entitled “Four Dollars,” begins running today in West Palm Beach. It focuses on the devastating effects of Allen West’s vote to end the promise of secure health care for seniors afforded by Medicare, which will significantly increase costs.

“Four Dollars” is available here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPD-8t4hBnQ.

The second ad, a comparative spot entitled “Everywhere,” begins to air Tuesday and will run alongside the first ad. “Everywhere” blasts Allen West’s out of touch priorities, making clear that despite all of West’s paid advertising attacks, what he’s not talking about is jobs. Of course, with West’s votes for a budget that could cost 1.7 million jobs and his support for tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas, that shouldn’t come as any surprise. Democrat Patrick Murphy, a proven job creator, offers a much better choice.

“Everywhere” is available here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GgjpfI803aY.

“Allen West is well-known for his offensive, outlandish and belligerent rhetoric,” said Alixandria Lapp, Executive Director of House Majority PAC. “But what Floridians should remember as they head to the polls is – whether it’s ending Medicare, killing jobs or supporting tax breaks for companies that ship American jobs overseas – how dangerous Allen West’s votes are.”

Allen West – “Turn”

ALLEN WEST STEM CELL OPPOSITION – HE TURNED HIS BACK ON SOUTH FLORIDA FAMILY FEATURED IN POWERFUL NEW HOUSE MAJORITY PAC AD

Washington, D.C. – House Majority PAC today unveiled a powerful new TV ad that features one South Florida mother describing when Allen West literally turned his back on her son Adam – who is blind, a quadriplegic and has cerebral palsy – when she and her husband asked West about embryonic stem cell research.

In the spot, entitled “Turn,” which will air for just over a week in West Palm Beach beginning Saturday, Judy Susser explains that rather than dignify the question with a response, West simply turned and walked away without saying a word. In the ad, Judy asks, “If Allen West can turn his back on Adam, what will he do to you?”

“Turn” is available here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FjQ8f0Lhy0E.

“When Allen West met my son, Adam, we asked for his support for embryonic stem cell research. In response, West looked at us, turned his back and walked away,” said Judy Susser of Boca Raton, Fla., who is featured in the new House Majority PAC ad. “I was shocked, it was a slap in the face.”

“Allen West is on the wrong side of issue after issue – whether it’s stem cell research or ending Medicare,” said Alixandria Lapp, Executive Director of House Majority PAC. “But it speaks volumes about West that when asked to support stem cell research by a family one of whose best hopes lies in this technology, he simply turned his back and walked away.”

“Turn” is the sixth ad House Majority PAC has run in this competitive race as part of a $1.5 million West Palm Beach TV buy.
