Steve King – “Our Time”

October 26, 2012

Washington, D.C. – House Majority PAC today unveiled a new TV ad targeting Steve King and his long record of looking out for himself and his national profile at the expense of Iowans.

In fact, in endorsing Christie Vilsack recently, the Des Moines Register made the argument against Steve King quite succinctly: “[He] seems to amuse himself by being as partisan and vitriolic as he can be. He has had 10 years in Washington to cultivate his inner-statesman, but he has failed to do so. It’s time for Iowa to make a change.”

The new spot, entitled “Our Time,” begins running today in Des Moines and will continue through Election Day at a cost of nearly $170,000.

“Our Time” is available here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKiCBGl-j94.

“Steve King has cultivated a well-deserved reputation for being a partisan firebrand on the national stage – but he’s done it at the expense of Iowans,” said Alixandria Lapp, Executive Director of House Majority PAC. “King failed to support the small businesses and farms that make up the backbone of Iowa’s economy and, adding insult to injury, instead he backed tax breaks for companies that ship American jobs overseas while voting himself pay increase after pay increase. Iowans deserve someone who is fully invested in Iowa.”

House Majority PAC has invested nearly $600,000 in this district, running four ads in total. The first two – a positive spot about Christie Vilsack and a negative spot on Steve King – ran in July and August, and the cost was shared with AFSCME and SEIU. The third ad ran in mid-September. “Our Time” marks the fourth ad House Majority PAC has run in IA-04.

Steve King – “Babies”

September 12, 2012

HOUSE MAJORITY PAC LAUNCHES NEW AD HITTING STEVE KING FOR PUTTING HIMSELF FIRST

Six-figure Ad Buy In Des Moines, Sioux City Begins This Week

Washington, D.C. – House Majority PAC today announced that it will begin running a new ad in Des Moines and Sioux City targeting Steve King for putting himself first, over the needs of Iowans.

The ad, entitled “Babies,” begins airing today.

“Babies” can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGoYflMmtkA.

“Clearly, Steve King is way out of touch with the needs of Iowans,” said Alixandria Lapp, Executive Director of House Majority PAC. “After all, even in this challenging economy, King voted to cut college loans and Pell Grants to help the next generation of Iowans get ahead while taking special interest junkets and sticking taxpayers with the bill for his luxury SUV.”

House Majority PAC has been heavily invested in this race. Over a four-week period in July and August, House Majority PAC partnered with AFSCME and SEIU to run two spots in Des Moines and Sioux City.

The first was an ad touting Christie Vilsack’s Iowa values and independence:

The second criticized Steve King for raising his own pay and looking out for himself:

Steve King – “Tough”

August 9, 2012

HOUSE MAJORITY PAC, AFSCME, SEIU TO AIR NEW AD HITTING STEVE KING FOR BEING OUT FOR HIMSELF, NOT IOWA

Spot to Run for Two Weeks as Part of Six-Figure Buy in Des Moines and Sioux City Markets

Washington, D.C. – House Majority PAC, SEIU and AFSCME today announced that the three groups are joining forces to air a new TV spot showing how, after spending nearly a decade in Congress, Steve King is only looking out for himself, not hardworking Iowans.

The new ad – the second spot in a joint four-week, $400,000 buy in Iowa’s Fourth Congressional District – begins running today in the Des Moines and Sioux City markets and will continue through August 23. It holds King accountable for looking out for himself at the expense of Iowans: voting time after to time to raise his own pay, using taxpayer funds to lease a luxury SUV and taking regular taxpayer- and special interest-funded trips while voting against raising the minimum wage.

“Just one look at his record of taxpayer-funded pay raises, travel and transportation and it’s obvious Steve King is looking for out for himself, not the Iowans he’s supposed to represent,” said Alixandria Lapp, Executive Director of House Majority PAC.  “Thanks to a partnership with our allies on this effort, voters across western and central Iowa will hear all about how much Steve King has lost touch with the Hawkeye State.”

“Steve King is out of touch with the challenges facing hard working Iowa families.  It is past time that his constituents know the truth about his radical agenda and his voting record,” stated AFSCME Assistant Political Director Seth Johnson. “Together with House Majority PAC and SEIU, we are doing our part to get out the real story about Congressman King to Iowa voters.”

“Voters want Congress to focus on creating good jobs now but Steve King has shown that’s not his priority,” said SEIU National Political Director Brandon Davis. “Christie Vilsack will stand up for hard working men and women of Iowa and end the King tradition of only catering to the wealthiest.”

The first spot in this four-week paid media campaign began running in Des Moines and Sioux City on July 23. The ad, jointly financed by House Majority PAC, AFSCME and SEIU, emphasized Democrat Christie Vilsack’s independence and record of working across party lines.
