Attacks continue on GOP anti-Medicare vote
April 20, 2011
A new PAC aimed at regaining Democratic control of the House is on the air with radio ads attacking select Republican members of Congress who voted for huge tax breaks for millionaires in the same legislation that will bring an end to Medicare.
One of the targets: U.S. Rep. Rick Crawford of Arkansas’s 1st, though it could also have targeted votes of Rep. Tim Griffin and Rep. Steve Womack.
“House Republicans are breaking the trust our country has with its seniors by ending Medicare as we know it, making them pay more for prescriptions drugs, and by forcing them to turn to the private health insurance market,” said Alixandria Lapp, Executive Director of House Majority PAC, in a statement. “House Republicans have no problem asking seniors, middle class families and veterans to make sacrifices, yet refuse to do the same for big corporations and millionaires who would receive trillions in new tax breaks. We will hold House Republicans accountable for their backwards priorities.”
It really is that simple. An enormous cut in the top marginal tax rate for millionaires while seniors and the middle class are expected to pay more for less health coverage.
