CA-24: House Majority PAC Congratulates Salud Carbajal

November 9, 2016

Washington, D.C. – House Majority PAC congratulated Representative-Elect Salud Carbajal on his victory in California’s 24th Congressional District.

“Salud Carbajal has overcome relentless attacks by national Republicans with a hard-earned victory in California’s 24th Congressional District,” said House Majority PAC Executive Director Alixandria Lapp. “House Majority PAC is proud to have played a part in helping secure victories for Carbajal in both the June and November elections – ensuring Central Coast families will have a champion for the middle class in Congress.”

Given the unpredictable nature of California’s jungle primary system and multiple Republican candidates with the ability to go on air, House Majority PAC took early action to ensure Democrats would not be locked out of the November election. A poll by the group in April found a congested race with Carbajal tied with Republican Katcho Achadjian and Republican Justin Fareed a close third. HMP partnered with CHC BOLD PAC to invest nearly $400,000 in a media campaign that included direct-mail and three TV ads, including a Spanish-language ad, boosting Carbajal and attacking Achadjian. The media campaign helped turn the congested primary into a resounding first-place victory for Carbajal – ensuring Democrats a place on the November ballot.

HMP invested over $600,000 in the general election to counter significant spending by the NRCC and outside Republican groups, define the race against Republican nominee Justin Fareed, and help secure victory.
