CA-39: House Majority PAC Congratulates Gil Cisneros
November 18, 2018
Washington, D.C. – House Majority PAC congratulates Representative-Elect Gil Cisneros on his victory in California’s 39th Congressional District.
“Gil Cisneros is going to Washington to ensure California families have a ladder of opportunity to the American dream,” said House Majority PAC Executive Director Charlie Kelly. “Voters sent a clear message: they’re tired of the toxic GOP agenda, and instead elected a tremendous candidate to Congress who will fight for investment in education and provide affordable health care for everyone. House Majority PAC is thrilled to have played a key role in this pivotal race – sending Gil Cisneros to Congress where he’ll put hardworking families first.”
CA-39 was on Democrats’ radar from the beginning of this cycle. Despite the fact that this district had traditionally been a Republican stronghold, Hillary Clinton’s 2016 victory here and the retirement of longtime incumbent Ed Royce, made this seat a prime pick-up opportunity. HMP invested in digital advertising and direct mail ahead of the June jungle primary to ensure Democrats weren’t boxed out of the November election and Cisneros would advance to the general election ballot.
Once the primary was over, HMP invested heavily to make sure Gil Cisneros won the general election. The group ran an extensive advertising campaign across the district that included a TV ad, a digital program and multi-piece direct mail program. The TV ad focused on Young Kim’s adherence to the Trump agenda including support of the tax plan, which gives massive tax breaks to the ultra-rich and paves the way for deep cuts to Medicare and Social Security. HMP also partnered with Priorities USA Action to reinforce a similar message on digital platforms across the district.
