CA-49: House Majority PAC Congratulates Mike Levin

November 7, 2018

Washington, D.C. – House Majority PAC congratulates Representative-Elect Mike Levin on his victory in California’s 49th Congressional District.

“Mike Levin is a lifelong Southern Californian who is committed to improving the community – creating 21st century jobs and expanding access to affordable health care,” said House Majority PAC Executive Director Charlie Kelly. “Voters sent a clear message that they’re ready to send a real champion to Congress. House Majority PAC was thrilled to help elect Mike Levin who will always do what’s best for Southern California families.”

CA-49 was an early target for Democrats this cycle. In 2016, Democrats nearly unseated incumbent Darrell Issa who was re-elected by a razor thin margin as Hillary Clinton won the district. Knowing this would be a critical race in an expensive media market, HMP reserved airtime for the fall in March. HMP also invested in digital and direct mail during the California jungle primary to ensure Democrats would not be locked out of the general election.

In the fall, HMP ran a media campaign, including a TV ad in both the San Diego and Los Angeles media markets, which showed voters how Diane Harkey’s family business looted investment funds in a Ponzi scheme. HMP worked with Priorities USA Action to run a version of the ad on premium digital platforms across the district. Additionally, HMP ran a robust direct mail program.
