CAUGHT ON TAPE: Laurie Buckhout Invoked Pentagon General During DUI Arrest
May 19, 2026
Washington, D.C. – Newly released body camera footage reveals NC-01 Republican Laurie Buckhout invoking her Pentagon connections after being arrested for drunk driving — a stunning display of arrogance and abuse of power from a candidate now asking North Carolinians for their votes.
“North Carolinians deserve leaders who respect the law,” said HMP National Press Secretary Katarina Flicker. “Not politicians like DUI Laurie who think the rules don’t apply to them.”
The footage shows Buckhout attempting to name-drop a “two-star at the Pentagon” after being pulled over, apparently hoping her status and military connections would help her avoid accountability for driving under the influence. The arresting officer refused to be intimidated and continued doing his job to protect the public from an intoxicated driver. As the report notes: “The Pentagon name-drop didn’t work. Neither did anything else.”
Buckhout initially refused a blood-alcohol test when she was pulled over, triggering her arrest under Georgia law. When officers later administered a breathalyzer test, Buckhout registered a BAC well above the legal limit.
The damning footage reveals “not just a candidate with a DUI on her record, but one who — in the moment of accountability — reached for her rank instead of her license.”
