Survey Results Underscore Bartlett’s Weakness in New Democratic District
Washington, D.C. – A new poll conducted for House Majority PAC and SEIU found Democrat John Delaney leading 10-term Republican Roscoe Bartlett, 44-42 percent. Delaney’s lead over Bartlett grows to 50-41 percent after survey respondents were read balanced, positive paragraphs about each candidate.
The poll also reveals that in this Democratic district, President Obama leads Mitt Romney by nine points, 51-42 percent.
An analysis memo from the polling firm, Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research, is available .
“With 20 years in Washington under his belt, Roscoe Bartlett is clearly out of step with Maryland values,” said Alixandria Lapp, Executive Director of House Majority PAC. “After all, Bartlett voted to end Medicare as we know it, worked to protect tax breaks for big corporations and the wealthy and even voted to defund Planned Parenthood, which provides birth control and cancer screenings for thousands of Maryland women every year.”
“John Delaney has earned the support of working families in this election due to his strong positions in support of the middle class,” said SEIU Local 500 President Merle Cuttitta. “Congressman Bartlett has been in near lockstep with the far-right policies of his party which do not reflect Maryland values.”
The poll of 400 likely voters in MD-06 was conducted July 23-25. It has a margin of error of 4.9 percent.
