A political action committee focused on boosting Democrats in the US House of Representatives has reserved more than $1.4 million in television time in the Boston media market, adding to the expected deluge of political ads focused on congressional elections in the weeks before the November election.

House Majority PAC announced today it had added money to TV reservations across the country including an additional $964,000 in the Boston media market, which covers a broad swath of Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire. That brings its total reservation in the Boston-area alone to more than $1.4 million.

The ads the PAC could air with that money might help Democrats John Tierney of Massachusetts and/or Carol Shea-Porter and Ann McLane Kuster of New Hampshire, all considered to be in competitive races.

Other outside groups, such as the arms of the Democratic and Republican parties devoted to congressional elections, have also reserved millions in TV time in the Boston market.

While House Majority PAC’s reservations, which include broadcast and cable television, are not ironclad, they do offer a template for how the group plans to spend its resources.

A spokesman for the PAC said the group had not announced specific dates but planned to air spots in the weeks before the election.

Tierney faces a contested primary. If he wins his party’s nod, he’s set to face Republican Richard Tisei, who narrowly lost to the congressman in 2012.
