HMP Launches Ads in Seven Districts

September 8, 2020

House Majority PAC is launching new ads in seven House districts today and tomorrow. The ads focus on a range of topics, from Chip Roy’s votes against Gold Star Families to Ashley Hinson’s votes to give nursing homes legal immunity in the middle of the pandemic. House Majority PAC is also launching a Spanish-language ad in Texas’ 23rd District.

The ads are linked below.

TX-21 (Chip Roy)

Following reports of President Donald Trump’s remarks calling America’s war dead “losers” and “suckers,” House Majority PAC is launching a new ad highlighting Rep. Chip Roy’s record of voting against tax relief for Gold Star Families, but voting to give more tax breaks to big banks, pharmaceutical companies and corporations that ship jobs overseas. Roy was one of only three members to vote against tax relief for Gold Star families.

“Voters deserve to know why Chip Roy thinks big banks and pharmaceutical corporations–the same folks donating to his campaign–need tax cuts, but Gold Star families are on their own,” said Abby Curran Horrell, executive director of House Majority PAC. “Most of us can agree that when Gold Star families have made sacrifices most of us can’t imagine, the least we can do is give them tax relief, but Chip Roy was one of only three members to vote against it. It’s disgraceful.”

IA-01 (Ashley Hinson)

As America’s seniors in nursing homes continue to be at significant risk for COVID infections, Ashley Hinson worked to limit legal liability for nursing homes after taking thousands in campaign donations from the nursing home industry. House Majority PAC is launching a new ad today highlighting Hinson’s failed record of standing up for nursing home executives instead of Iowa’s seniors.

“America’s seniors have been at extreme risk for COVID infections and rather than working to make them safer, Ashley Hinson voted for legal immunity to protect the nursing home industry–all while taking their campaign donations,” said Abby Curran Horrell, executive director of House Majority PAC. “Whether it’s refusing to answer reporter questions, plagiarizing her ideas or refusing to protect Iowa’s seniors, it’s clear she can’t be trusted in Congress.”

TX-22 (Troy Nehls)

House Majority PAC is releasing an ad highlighting Troy Nehls’ career as an untrustworthy cop, during which he was fired for repeated violations, including destroying evidence and wrongful arrest, lied about his record and was sued for failing to protect a teenager who was allegedly sexually assaulted hundreds of times.

“Families and communities expect their police officers to protect and serve, but Troy Nehls did neither,” said Abby Curran Horrell, executive director of House Majority PAC. “The last thing we need in Congress is someone like Troy Nehls, who simply can’t be trusted to keep us safe.”

IA-02 (Marianette Miller-Meeks)

House Majority PAC is launching a new ad highlighting Marianette Miller-Meeks’ startling record of supporting big insurance companies at the expense of Iowa’s seniors and families. Miller Meeks supported letting insurance companies charge older Iowans more for healthcare and letting them deny coverage for preexisting conditions, while taking thousands of dollars from insurance companies and other special interests.

OK-05 (Stephanie Bice)

House Majority PAC launched a second ad linking Stephanie Bice and Mary Fallin’s failed record of funding our schools, highlighting Bice’s vote against a teacher pay raise and her vote that allowed school districts to cut teachers’ health insurance. Despite Bice’s arguments against a teacher pay raise, she still voted to fund her own pay raise in the middle of the pandemic.

TX-23 (Tony Gonzales)

House Majority PAC is today launching a new Spanish-language ad in Texas’ 23rd District highlighting Tony Gonzales’ support of Donald Trump’s agenda. The ad will make sure Spanish speaking voters in San Antonio understand what’s at stake if Tony Gonzales is elected to Congress–including his support for gutting coverage for preexisting conditions and leaving families without healthcare in the middle of a pandemic.
