HMP Statement on AZ-08 Election Results

WASHINGTON, DC – House Majority PAC Executive Director Charlie Kelly released the following statement regarding the election results in the AZ-08 special election:

“The close margin in this ruby red district last night speaks volumes about how things look as we head into November. In a district that Trump won by more than 20 points, where a Democrat shouldn’t have had anything near a chance, Dr. Hiral Tipirneni defied expectations and achieved an amazingly close margin. It’s a testament to the tremendous campaign Tipirneni ran and to the momentum and enthusiasm that Democrats are seeing all across the country. The fact that this race is anywhere near as close as it is should send every Republican, who isn’t already, into a panic. The message from voters is loud and clear from coast to coast. They’re tired of the constant Republican dysfunction in Washington. They’re rejecting the GOP’s agenda against hardworking families – from a devastating healthcare bill to a disastrous tax scam. And even in the reddest of red districts, Democratic candidates offering real leadership focused on commonsense solutions are running competitive races while Republicans are running out of excuses. The battleground map is expanding exponentially heading towards November.”
