HMP Statement on Senate Healthcare Bill Failure and Full Repeal

July 18, 2017

WASHINGTON, DC – House Majority PAC Senior Communications Advisor Jeb Fain released the following statement on the recent developments of the GOP healthcare bill:

“The latest GOP healthcare bill, like the AHCA, was so extreme that Majority Leader Mitch McConnell couldn’t find 50 votes. Now, it’s clear, Republicans aren’t learning their lesson. Leader McConnell has proposed a full-on repeal, which would be disastrous for hardworking families.

“House Republicans are still going to have to face their constituents for their terrible AHCA vote, which guts protections for pre-existing conditions, implements an ‘Age Tax’ and takes away health coverage from 23 million Americans. Yet, the impacts of a full repeal would be even worse. Their constituents have been rallying in districts across the country, and they’ll continue to make their voices heard until they have Democratic Representatives who do what’s right for the American people by helping to improve our healthcare system instead of destroying it.”
