HMP Statement on Supreme Court of Virginia Decision

Washington, D.C. – In response to today’s ruling from the Supreme Court of Virginia blocking the results of the April 21 redistricting referendum and invalidating the votes of over three million Virginians, House Majority PAC President Mike Smith released the following statement:

“Today’s decision is a shocking and deeply undemocratic attack on the will of Virginia voters. More than three million Virginians made their voices heard in a free and fair election, only to have a court throw those votes out entirely. At a time when voting rights are already under assault across the country, this ruling sends a dangerous message that voters’ voices can simply be discarded when those in power dislike the outcome. Meanwhile, Republicans and their extreme allies continue rigging maps in states across the country without transparency, accountability, or voter input. House Majority PAC will do whatever it takes to win back the House in November. This fight is far from over.”
