House Majority PAC Breaks $1 Million Mark In Push To Unseat GOP Rep. Nan Hayworth
October 26, 2012
The House Majority PAC is dumping another $150,000 into its support of Democrat Sean Patrick Maloney’s bid to unseat incumbent GOP Rep. Nan Hayworth, bringing its spending on the contest to more than $1 million, the Daily Politics has learned.
The PAC is using the money for more NY-18 airings of the ad, which attacks Hayworth as a member of the “wrong kind of Tea Party” — that is, the group says, the kind that undercuts women’s access to abortions, “birth control, mammograms and cancer screenings.”
“To date we’d spent about $730,000 on TV and $150,000 in mail for a total of $880,000,” PAC spox Andy Stone told us. “With the additional $150,000, that brings us to $1,030,000.”
The last time we wrote about this ad, Hayworth spox Michael Knowles called it a “silly and self-defeating” effort to prop up the campaign of a carpetbagger.
