House Majority PAC, a super PAC that supports Democrats, announced Monday that it would support ad purchases in two tossup races that the national party is targeting.
House Majority PAC announced it made $220,148 in television reservations in the Green Bay, Wis., media market and $1.1 million for the market in the Phoenix area for the final weeks of the 2016 campaign.
The Green Bay market includes Wisconsin’s 8th Congressional District. Incumbent Republican Rep. Reid Ribble announced his retirement in January and Rothenberg & Gonzales Political Report/Roll Call’s Race Ratings’ map has marked the race as a tossup.
Outagamie County Executive Tom Nelson, who served as the former Democratic Assembly leader, announced his candidacy this month and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has designated the race as “an emerging race” as part of its Red to Blue program.
The Phoenix airtime purchase includes Arizona’s 1st Congressional District, which is also considered “an emerging race” by the DCCC. Former Republican state Sen. Tom O’Halleran is running as a Democrat to replace Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick, D-Ariz., who is running for Senate. Rothenberg & Gonzales Political Report/Roll Call’s Race Ratings’ map also marked the race as a tossup.
