House Majority PAC Statement On Kansans Upholding Abortion Rights
August 3, 2022
Washington, D.C. – House Majority PAC Executive Director Abby Curran Horrell issued the following statement after last night’s successful vote in Kansas to uphold abortion rights:
“Last night’s results in Kansas show that Americans are fed up with Republican attacks on their freedoms, and that abortion and a woman’s freedom to choose and control her own body will be a defining issue in House races across the country.
“Since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, House Republicans have responded by voting against a woman’s right to choose, protecting the right of women to cross state lines to get an abortion, and the right to birth control. While Republicans represent an extreme, out-of-touch perspective on women’s rights, House Democrats stand with the American people and voted to protect women.
“The upcoming midterm elections will determine whether Republicans can enact their extreme agenda next year. They will seek to ban abortion nationwide, criminalize abortion providers, and punish women. The stakes of defending our Democratic House majority have never been higher.
“Come November, we must elect Democrats to the House of Representatives who will fight like hell to ensure that our constitutional rights are enshrined into law and serve as the last line of defense against Republicans’ extremist attacks on our fundamental freedoms.”
