Big Multimedia Advertising Push To Remind MN-02 Voters That Kline Wants To More Than Double Student Loan Rates

Washington, D.C. – House Majority PAC announced that today it will begin a creative, multimedia advertising campaign targeting Rep. John Kline (R-MN) over his plan to make the cost of a college education more expensive. Kline is one of House Majority PAC’s top GOP targets.

On July 1, the interest rate on federal Stafford loans is set to double. In his first concrete act this Congress as chairman of the House Education and Workforce Committee, John Kline passed a plan that could send student loan rates even higher, rather than craft a reasonable, bipartisan solution.

The advertising campaign consists of promoted Facebook posts, “Twitter Card” petitions using the hashtag #StopScammingStudents and banner ads on popular Twin Cities news websites – all targeted at residents of Minnesota’s Second District.

It will also include a 30-second radio ad featuring a local Eagan, Minn., mom who calls Kline’s plan “just plain stupid.” The ad will air on the popular Pandora internet radio service and will be heard by Pandora subscribers in MN-02. The ad is available here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wIbScUEfPI8.

“Minnesota families are struggling to afford skyrocketing college costs and John Kline’s solution is to more than double student loan rates,” said Andy Stone, Communications Director for House Majority PAC. “No question, that’s the wrong fix but because of John Kline the fix is in for the students and families who will pay the price.”
