House Republicans targeted in new commercials
October 17, 2011
(CNN) – An independent group dedicated to helping House Democrats try and win back control of the chamber is going up with television commercials targeting four Republican congressmen.
House Majority PAC says it’s launching a six-figure campaign starting Monday that will run for a week on broadcast and cable television, going after Rep. Charlie Bass of New Hampshire, Rep. Sean Duffy of Wisconsin, Rep. Bill Johnson of Ohio, and Rep. Dan Lungren of California.
Programming note: GOP presidential candidates next face off at 8 p.m. ET Tuesday, October 18, in the CNN Western Republican Presidential Debate in Las Vegas, Nevada. Submit your questions for the debate here.
The ads attack the four congressman for “rewarding Wall Street with lower taxes while middle class families are struggling on Main Street,” according to an email release from the group.
House Majority PAC is an independent-expenditure only committee, sometimes known as a “super PAC,” with the goal to help win back the House Majority for Democrats.
Democrats won control of the House in the 2006 election, but the GOP stormed back and retook control of the chamber in the 2010 midterms, thanks to a 62 seat pick up. Democrats need to win back at least 25 seats to win back control of the House.
