November 7, 2018
Washington, D.C. – House Majority PAC congratulates Representative-Elect Lauren Underwood on her victory in Illinois’ 14th Congressional District.
“As a registered nurse and lifelong health care advocate, Lauren Underwood has a tremendous record of service to her community and a deep understanding of the challenges they face. She’ll bring that needed perspective and experience to Congress,” said House Majority PAC Executive Director Charlie Kelly. “The voters of IL-14 saw Randy Hultgren for what he was – an out-of-touch career politician – and chose to elect a new generation of leadership and a champion for hardworking families in Lauren Underwood.”
HMP was the first Democratic group on TV in IL-14 – investing nearly $1.3 million on cable and broadcast. The ad exposed Randy Hultgren as a career politician who took over $500,000 from insurance interests and voted to increase health care costs, end protections for people living with pre-existing conditions, and impose a punishing “Age Tax” on older Americans. HMP partnered with the Black Economic Alliance PAC and Black Economic Alliance Fund on a radio ad to mobilize black voters in the district.
HMP also partnered with Priorities USA Action to jointly run a version of the TV ad on digital platforms and worked with Emily’s List’s independent expenditure operation, WOMEN VOTE! who ran a significant digital and mail program in the district.
