Jim Matheson Leads Mia Love by Double Digits in House Majority PAC/Center Forward Poll

July 31, 2012

Washington, D.C. – A new poll conducted for House Majority PAC and Center Forward shows Jim Matheson leading Mia Love by 18 points, 51-33 percent. The poll also showed that Matheson has a very high favorable rating of 65 percent, while Love is viewed much less favorably.

An analysis memo from the polling firm, Global Strategy Group, is available .

“There is no question about it, Mia Love is out of touch with Utah voters,” said Alixandria Lapp, Executive Director of House Majority PAC. “Whether it’s promoting a plan that essentially ends Medicare, backing efforts to eliminate the student loan programs that help Americans afford college or taking a pay raise as mayor even though Saratoga Springs faced financial collapse, Mia Love has the wrong priorities.”

“This poll underscores Congressman Matheson’s strength among Utahns. The people of Utah continue to support Jim year after year because he is a true independent who has a longstanding record of working with both parties to do what’s right on behalf of his constituents. This election will be no different,” said Cori Smith, Executive Director of Center Forward. “Center Forward will continue to support centrist members like Jim who will work together to move this country forward.”

The poll of 400 likely voters in UT-04 was conducted July 26-29. It has a 4.9 percent margin of error.
