John Kline Leads House Republicans In Passing Bill to Hike Student Loan Rates

Another Piece Of The House GOP Anti-Middle Class Agenda

Washington, D.C. – Embracing his role as the face of student loan rate hikes, today Rep. John Kline led House Republicans in passing his bill to make the cost of a college education more expensive.

Facing a July 1 deadline on which federal Stafford student loan rates will double, House Republicans today passed a bill to allow the rates to go even higher. Rather than find a reasonable, bipartisan solution, Education and Workforce Committee Chairman John Kline pushed full steam ahead for an approach that punishes American students.

“Instead of taking steps to lower the cost of a college education, Rep. John Kline is driving House Republicans’ effort to make higher education more expensive,” said Andy Stone, Communications Director for House Majority PAC. “This attack on students and families is just one more piece of House Republicans’ anti-middle class agenda.”
