Lee Zeldin Embraces Tea Party Extremist Label At CPAC

March 6, 2014

Washington, D.C. – Remember when GOP Congressional candidate Lee Zeldin announced his candidacy and whined about how “unfortunate” it is that he was tagged a “right-wing, Tea Party extremist”?

Fast forward to this week as Zeldin prepares to take the stage at the 2014 CPAC conference – the yearly disconnected-from-reality confab that celebrates the very strain of reckless extremism that dominates today’s GOP.

After all, over just the last few years, CPAC has developed quite the reputation for giving voice to some of the most ridiculous, nonsensical and provocative right-wing beliefs, delivered by some of the most insolent, unreasonable and crazy Republican practitioners out there.

“Taking the stage at this year’s CPAC conference means Lee Zeldin is earning the ‘right-wing, Tea Party extremist’ tag ten times over,” said Andy Stone, Communications Director for House Majority PAC. “Zeldin can whine all he wants but the truth is he’s throwing down with the same lot that has fanned the flames of birtherism and continues to promote reckless, Tea Party ideas.”
