National Dem Group targets Illinois Congressman with Boehner-like shutdown tantrum ad
October 7, 2013
The House Majority PAC will be airing a new TV spot today that takes aim at U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.), pinning the shutdown on him and accusing him of “throwing a tantrum just to score political points.”
“Tell Congressman Davis: No more tantrums,” the voice-over says.
The ad is similar to the one the same group put out on Sunday in Ohio, targeting U.S. House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio).
It’s no secret the group has targeted Davis as it looks toward elections next year. Davis is also facing a primary challenge from Republican Erika Harold. The House Majority PAC says the ad is part of a “six-figure, national multimedia campaign” its running against nine GOP targets nationwide.
Boehner has said Republicans are willing to negotiate and reopen the government and have called on President Obama to do so. Obama has repeatedly said he would not negotiate — when it comes to de-funding the Affordable Care Act.
