NE-02: House Majority PAC Congratulates Brad Ashford
November 5, 2014
Washington, D.C. – House Majority PAC congratulates Representative-Elect Brad Ashford on his election in Nebraska’s Second Congressional District.
“After facing some of the nastiest attacks in campaign history, Brad Ashford secured a great victory for Nebraska, proving voters are ready to say goodbye to Lee Terry and his desperate attacks after sixteen years in Washington,” said Ali Lapp, Executive Director of House Majority PAC. “House Majority PAC was proud to play a part in making sure Brad Ashford will get right to work in Congress fighting for the middle class.”
Republican Congressman Lee Terry nearly lost his seat in 2012 but ended up winning by less than 1 percent. He was challenged in the 2014 Republican primary and it greatly damaged his re-election campaign. House Majority PAC polled in early August and found that Terry was disliked by the voters and was running behind the Democratic nominee. HMP decided it needed to make a big investment in the Omaha media market for the final three weeks. The most damning piece of evidence was Lee Terry’s quote that he was going to continue taking his salary while the government shut down because he had a nice house. HMP ran three ads (HERE, HERE AND HERE) over the final three weeks using this quote and even increased the investment at the end to help push Democrat Brad Ashford over the top.
HMP spent the following in this district: $463,897
