At Voicesfromyourdistrict.com, Constituents Share Healthcare Bill Concerns for GOP Reps

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, House Majority PAC announced the launch of a new website, Voicesfromyourdistrict.com, featuring the compelling, first-hand accounts of real constituents from 12 Republican-held districts, who would be impacted by the disastrous Republican healthcare bill their Member of Congress voted for. Promoted Facebook posts will direct voters to the website in each of the targeted districts.

“House Republicans had a responsibility to listen to and look out for their constituents, and they failed,” said Jeb Fain, Senior Communications Advisor for House Majority PAC. “Instead, they ignored the pleas of the people they were elected to represent and voted party-line for a bill that strips health coverage for 23 million Americans, imposes an “Age Tax” that charges people over 50 more, cuts Medicaid and guts protections for pre-existing conditions. These constituents who were so generous and courageous to share their healthcare stories give voice to just how much is at stake in the fight to save health care. House Majority PAC is committed to doing its part to make these hardworking Americans’ voices heard and hold their Representatives accountable.”

Over the course of approximately two weeks, thousands of voters were contacted across the 12 districts via live calls and asked to share their own healthcare stories for their Member of Congress – with hundreds responding. Respondents shared moving, and in some cases very personal stories, about the positive impact the Affordable Care Act has had on them, their families, friends and neighbors and the negative impact and higher costs of the GOP healthcare bill.

The website features a sampling of responses from the following districts: AZ-02 (Martha McSally), FL-18 (Brian Mast), FL-25 (Mario Diaz-Balart), ME-02 (Bruce Poliquin), MI-01 (Jack Bergman), MI-06 (Fred Upton), MI-07 (Tim Walberg), MI-08 (Mike Bishop), MI-11 (David Trott), WI-01 (Paul Ryan), WI-07 (Sean Duffy), and WI-08 (Mike Gallagher).

The website is a part of House Majority PAC’s Congressional Accountability Campaign – targeting House Republicans in a dozen initial districts to hold them accountable and working to put more districts on the map for Democrats in 2018.
