NY War Room: ICYMI – New York Republicans “Nervous About House Speaker Mike Johnson’s Fundraising Ability”

New York, NY – In case you missed it, the New York Post reported that the NY GOP delegation, including vulnerable Republicans Nick LaLota, George Santos, Anthony D’Esposito, Mike Lawler, Marc Molinaro, and Brandon Williams, is in critical condition as they stare down the consequences of electing MAGA Mike Johnson into the Speakership.

Worries arose after they realized that Mike Johnson lacked the crucial ability of a party leader to fundraise. Vulnerable NY GOP members leaned heavily on former Speaker McCarthy’s political capital and fundraising machine when initially running for their seats in 2022, as Congressional Leadership Fund (CLF) “spent millions to get members…over the finish line.”

Earlier this year, “GOP Conference Chair Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) vowed to spend $100 million to save Empire State members.” However, now it seems that “many now doubt [it] is achievable,” including vulnerable NY GOP members and top Republican staffers.

“The NY GOP delegation is in shambles as vulnerable Republicans Nick LaLota, George Santos, Anthony D’Esposito, Mike Lawler, Marc Molinaro, and Brandon Williams face the fact that their votes for Speaker Mike Johnson are toxic,” HMP NY Press Secretary Alisha Heng said. “Instead of standing their ground and representing New Yorkers, spineless NY Republicans folded to far-right extremism and are facing the consequences from installing election-denying, anti-choice extremist Mike Johnson as Speaker. HMP will ensure they lose re-election in 2024.”
