NY War Room: Why Won’t Long Island Republicans Celebrate One Year of the Inflation Reduction Act
August 16, 2023
New York, NY – On the one-year anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act, vulnerable Long Island Republicans Nick LaLota, George Santos, and Anthony D’Esposito still refuse to acknowledge how their districts have benefitted from IRA funding while continuing to tout its achievements.
A reminder of how the Inflation Reduction Act helps Long Islanders:
- Lowering costs of prescription drugs by allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices and establishing a $35 cap per monthly prescription of insulin.
- Creating good-paying jobs by bringing billions in investments in large-scale clean power generation and storage to New York and a historic set of tax credits that will create jobs across solar, wind, storage, and other clean energy industries.
- Lowering costs and bringing supply chains home by incentivizing domestic production in clean energy technologies, promoting domestic sourcing, and American jobs through tax credits.
- Supporting middle and working-class families by going after corporations who have evaded paying their fair share for too long and making sure no families making less than $400,000 pays a cent more in taxes.
“On the one-year anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act, extremist Republicans Nick LaLota, George Santos, and Anthony D’Esposito continue to tout the historic investments made possible by Democrats and President Biden while doing nothing to help Long Island families,” HMP NY Press Secretary Alisha Heng said. “LaLota, Santos, D’Esposito would much rather cater to wealthy donors and special interest groups while neglecting constituents and voters will ensure they are kicked to the curb in 2024.”
