Maloney Moves Ahead of Hayworth by Six Points After Positive Descriptions

Washington, D.C. – A new poll conducted for House Majority PAC and SEIU found that Democrat Sean Patrick Maloney is essentially tied with Republican Nan Hayworth, 45-48 percent. But after survey respondents heard balanced, positive descriptions of each candidate, Maloney moved well ahead of Hayworth, 51-45 percent.

An analysis memo from the polling firm, Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research, is available .

“Nan Hayworth doesn’t represent the interests of the Hudson Valley,” said Alixandria Lapp, Executive Director of House Majority PAC. “Whether it’s her support for ending Medicare as we know it and allowing insurance companies to charge women more for coverage just because they’re women or the political games she played holding up critical disaster relief funding after Tropical Storm Irene, Hayworth’s extreme agenda is wrong for New York.”

The poll of 500 likely voters in NY-18 was conducted July 25-29. It has a margin of error of 4.38 percent.
